I'm sure most of you keep up with local politics and happenings. Well here is an interesting blog about a man who is camping out on the beach in Wading River for 35 days to "protest" Broadwater. With the help of Denise over at the Times Review, this man will take note of each day during his vigil.

See you next week! I'll have lots of pictures and no doubt a blog or two on my weekend.
Happy Father's Day!

There's a full page Broadwater ad on page 23 of the News Review and a full page Broadwater ad on page 13 of the Suffolk Times. I know Times Review is a business, and forgive me if I have a simple mind, but which is it? Help support opposition to Broadwater, or offer your pages for sale to Broadwater? Personally, if Broadwater came to me, I'd laugh so hard that I'd pee my pants for sure.
And if Denise is so busy, she says, that she has arrived at a place where she feels utterly spiritually empty, then why has she agreed to type someone else's blog? I'm a little worried about her.
Thanks, Natasha. I checked it out. Being a teacher, I keep an eye out for anything I can incorporate into lesson plans...I'm very big on, "Get educated about the issues, take a stand, then DO something about it." Not exactly Ghandi here, but gives kids (and big people) a different approach.
Do you work in a library? If blog anonymity prohibits you from answering, that's ok...just curious from comments and the way you write.)
Well, would this be the first time the local paper became a "platformm" for certain people's opinions?
Hard to get a neutral source for news reporting these days, don'tcha think?
Wanna take a stand, then take one, but don't PRETEND that you're reporting "news".
Done had it.
I've been away all weekend and now swamped at work. Hardly any time to engage in this contreversial conversation.
But i tend to go with Nancy's view. I had no idea they had a full page ad about Broadwater in their paper.
Forgive my short and uneventful comment!
how much does a full page ad cost, anyway? What price your soul? (not yours, Natasha...speaking in general.)
I'm with you, Luna. There is no such thing as neutral journalism nowadays. Regardless of one's affiliation or opinions... And it appears that old saying "everyone has a price" is true...
Remember that-from pee Wee Herman's movie?
"my dad says everybody has a price"
Mark says it to me all the time, in a tiny little annoying voice.
I choose to believe that NOT everyone participates in that. But maybe I should just put down the pipe already, huh?
I see Denise dedicated this week's column to answering criticisms of her paper's publishing of the full page Broadwater ads.
Did she decimate critics? No. Did she apologize for the ads? No. Did she find a soft, sweet spot where she could lie in the sun? Yes. She should go into politics. Oh wait, stupid me, she was in politics.
i read it on her blog. She must have gotten tons of emails and letters about it.
Not really sure i buy into her reasoning either.
Not to pick on Denise, who is a smart, tough, and hard-working person, but she gave some discussion of the small size of the editorial side of the business. Well, and you should see the advertising department. I would say they're better compensated, which understandably aggravates those on the editorial side.
